There’s something powerful about simply sitting with someone and listening. It’s where the heart of my work begins. Every film I create starts with a conversation, and it’s in those moments that people begin to realise how much their story matters.
For me, it’s not just about capturing a life on camera. It’s about connecting — one story at a time.
That saying sticks with me. It’s a reminder that our stories matter — that the memories we leave behind, the way we’re remembered, the names we carry — all hold weight.
Filming someone’s life story isn’t just about capturing their memories. It’s about keeping their legacy alive. Because when we tell their stories, when we say their names, they live on.
What I’ve learned from sitting with people across New Zealand is that everyone has a story worth telling. Even those who think their lives are “ordinary” are often the most extraordinary. My goal is to preserve those stories with care, creativity and heart — so they can be remembered, shared, and retold for generations to come.
